Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT in Walt Disney World

We’ve always wanted to attend Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival held each fall but had never been able to plan a trip at that time. After moving to Florida in September, 2003, we were finally able to be there for the Food & Wine Festival. It’s now our favorite time of year and this is the one time we will probably stay overnight at a resort so that we can participate more fully. We managed to go to Food & Wine on 2 different occasions this past fall before moving on to Tampa Bay. Here are our notes from the first night:

We went to Food & Wine for the first time on Wednesday, October 29. We shared a tasting at about half of the pavilions. Absolutely loved almost everything we tried. Some items really surprised us. We had talked about skipping Scandinavia but kept going back until we had sampled everything on the menu. We’re hoping to fit in another night for the second half of the food booths we missed. We also sampled 2 or 3 wines. Definitely want to return to try the Aussie Walkabout/wine tastings. The food, wine, atmosphere and music, including 3 Dog Night, were fantastic!

Here are the items we sampled:

Mexico—Chorizo and Chicken Quesadilla, Watermelon Water
Ireland —Corned Beef and Cabagge with Colcannon
Scandinavia—Cold Poached Salmon, Smoked Trout, Ricecream (yum!)
China—Chicken Sha Cha with Peanut Sauce
Australia—Australian Tenderloin with BBQ Sauce, Shiraz (we are new fans of Australian wine—tasty and affordable)
Italy —Sicilian Pizza, Chianti
United States—Crab Cakes, Chardonnay
France—Creme Brulee, Goat Cheese and Tomato Tart
Cognac, Port & Brandy— Flourless Chocolate, International Cheeses, Port
Canada —Cheddar Cheese Soup, Ice Wine (not to be missed)
Colorful Eating—Grapefruit Cake (awesome)

We also found out that we are not fans of flourless chocolate cake. We’d heard so much about it but it’s really not our thing. Ricecream was the biggest surprise. Can’t wait to go back for more.
