“Too Old for Disneyland” Beach & Booze Trip, Day 2 Part 2

After the emotional morning we’d had – frustration at Disneyland and nostalgia at my house – we were so in the mood for cocktails at Duke’s in Huntington Beach.

We valet parked the car and were seated in our usual side room overlooking the beach. One thing I love about Huntington Beach over some of the other SoCal beach cities is that it feels like everybody’s beach – young, not-so-young, thin, not-s0-thin, rich, not-so-rich – it doesn’t matter.

Right off the bat I ordered a Mai Tai and Rich decided to try Hawaiian Ice Tea. You can check out the food and cocktail menu here. Ah… time to relax… a nice FAB (Frosty Adult Beverage), the beach, Hawaiian music, and my sweetie. Life doesn’t get any better than this!

Our drinks arrived along with bread and butter.

Rich ordered the Fish & Chips and I ordered beer battered Baja Fish Tacos.

I was asked how I wanted my fish tacos – grilled, blackened, or beer battered. I was in the mood to splurge so I chose the latter without realizing they would barely fit in the tortilla – lol! They were delicious, especially with the guac – wow!

After finishing our delicious meal and talking about a future trip back to Hawaii while sipping our drinks, we paid the bill and stopped by the valet desk to ask if it was okay to walk the pier before picking up the car. They said, sure, so we walked to the end of the pier, took in the view and took some pics.

We also stopped in the gift shop and browsed a bit. We finally decided on a Huntington Beach baseball cap for Rich and a Huntington Beach magnet for me – I love to collect those.

What a fabulous afternoon! We finally dragged ourselves away and headed back to the hotel for a swim in the pool and an afternoon nap. Would we brave the Disneyland crowds tonight or just stay in?
